The Hope Center & Berkeley Way Apartments address a critical need for housing and services in downtown Berkeley, creating a "Continuum of Housing" to help individuals transition out of poverty and homelessness with dignity. The project reflects a commitment to resilience, equity, and sustainability.
Comprising two six-story buildings, the development features interlocking facade motifs and light-filled spaces connected by lush entry gardens. Central to the design are community rooms in each building, fostering engagement and connection.
Berkeley Way Apartments offers 89 affordable units for families, with community spaces, laundry facilities, and administrative offices. The Insight Housing Hope Center provides a veteran’s transitional dormitory, 53 supportive apartments, and shelter accommodations, alongside essential services like a commercial kitchen, meal programs, and 24-hour reception.
